INDECENT DRESSING ON CAMPUSES IN NIGERIA.

The way students on various universities of learning particularly, the female ones, dress seductively leaves much to be desired.

 In 2015,the Lagos State University (LASU) and the Kwara State University (KWASU) have introduced new dress codes.  They have outlawed the use of lewd clothes and related materials. Some students applaud the move; others are not comfortable with it.

On Tuesday,April 16, 2013,seventy four students of the University of Ilorin were picked up on campus over indecent dressing appeared before the university’s disciplinary panel to answer questions on why they put on dresses...

 Also at the Kwara state University( KWASU), Vice Chancellor, Prof Abdulrasheed Na’Allah, said rules and regulations on indecent dressing are not negotiable. He said: “There is a freedom in choosing where you go for education. Nobody is compelled to come to KWASU. Different factors are considered in choosing a particular university.  Let the world know that KWASU has made a decision on the kinds of strategies it wants to operate. It is a choice the university has made.”

Before now in Aug, 2012 the Management of the Lagos State Polytechnic has slammed a ban on indecent dressing among students of the institution.

There is a famous expression in English: When the going gets tough, the tough get going – meaning when the situation becomes difficult, the strong will work harder to meet the challenge. Sometimes, when we are in a tough situation, inspirational quote or saying can help us calm down and focus on what we need to do.

Female children in the eastern part of Nigeria have suffered so much neglect and exclusion from being involved in their family inheritance due to cultural beliefs and tradition of the Igbos which invariably position the women as temporary children.

According to Ngozi to her friend,Chioma: Women are seen and treated as less important to the family, yet when serious needs arise in the family they are looked upon for solution; the reason being that male children perpetuate the man’s generation, unlike the woman who gets married and bears the name of her husband.

With her statement,that is why the female children have decided to go into drinking and partying;and this is psychological trauma the girl Igbo child go through.

To dance with the blondes and brunettes
Do you think you can globalise your dancing?
And your dancing steps are so discordant.


Oh! I know you can not dance alone
Why don't you dance with one heart?
Or dance with your cap on.
One dark day,you will dance with the owner of certificate of hell
And then, I mean then you will start your slow unplanned journey to the devil
Please, dance with fine steps.
